We began by meeting to track Nancy’s current company development and outline her long-term business goals. Using a series of deep-dive self awareness questions, we established Nancy’s core mission, dream business style and ideal clients. With this insight, we defined how the company should sound, behave and look in order to spark trust within this target audience while honoring the big-picture goals.
This image captures both the clients and work dynamic that Nancy wanted to manifest for her business.
Through discovery we identified the need to reposition the company and name in order to attract a more affluent and corporate clientele. Nancy’s initial business name was simply her full name (Nancy Hardcastle), and the brand communicated her expertise as an educator, communicator and presenter.
After digesting the discovery session, Nancy then contacted me with clarity and insight around her goals. She proposed the new name ‘Stand Up Be Great’ and shared her desire to focus on speech coaching services catered towards social justice and anti-trafficking organizations.
The personal brand was released and a business was born!
PROCESS: IDENTITY DESIGN
We began by curating a concise visual bank, most commonly known as a mood board, composed of colors, textures, patterns and website layouts. We kept in mind what Nancy’s audience is looking for and the visuals that embody her professional, feminine and energetic personality.
Logo design process: 3 initial logo proposals were delivered; we then had a meeting for presentation and feedback. Next, we reviewed 3 new logos, had a “YES!” moment, and then proceeded to finalize the chosen logo design.
After the logo was chosen, we began building the brand manual.
PROCESS: BRAND MANUAL
In order for Stand Up Be Great to be both memorable and trustworthy, we created a brand manual. This guide simplifies the creation of any future brand asset and ensures consistency and cohesiveness with the core vision.
The brand manual includes: logo variations, color palette, primary and secondary fonts, textures, patterns, social media templates, stationary, mockups, merchandise, print and digital advertisements, and application rules for all of the above media.
PROCESS: WEBSITE BUILD
We started by exploring the target audience needs and the most intuitive way to communicate the ideal solutions offered by Stand Up. We then crafted a digital user journey that is easily accessible from devices of all sizes. After touching base to talk about copy and media, we used the brand manual as our guide to design each page using Squarespace.
Finally, we polished and programmed all of the finer details for easy conversion and navigation. The Stand Up Be Great website went live and the new brand identity was launched on all relevant social media platforms.

“With Ria’s help, I was able to hone-in on what I wanted my brand to communicate and how I wanted my website to look. In spite of the short turn-around time I gave her, she was able to create a logo and site that I’m quite happy with. It does a great job of capturing my personality and the spirit of my work, both of which were really important to me. She also gave me invaluable branding advice, that has helped me clarify my content and the services I offer.”
